About Us
The idea of a few school mates wanting to play for the same football club is how Trinity Old Scholars Football Club begun its process to become the only football club in the Gawler, Barossa and Adelaide Plains area to offer three senior teams and play in the Adelaide Footy League (South Australian Amateur Football League). In late 2005 and early 2006, prominent old scholars such as James Howard, Matthew Skeen, Ben Guerin, Shaun Cooper, Sam Fatchen and Brad Perry along with the help of prominent staff members such as Steve Brookman helped established the club's foundations and structure in James Howard's Trinity College North School's classroom.
In 2006, the first guernseys were sponsored by Tyrepower Cluse Brothers and the club begun playing their first season in Division 7 of the Adelaide Footy League. The home ground was at the Blakeview School as Gawler was initially deemed too far for the League. The Reserves won their first game in Round 1 at Paralowie while the A Grade won their first game in Round 2 against Western Warriors. Many founding families carried the early load by volunteering their time on the committee, on the canteen or helping with football operations. 2007 saw the Club move their training and home ground to the main Gawler campus of Trinity College. Playing their home games on Main Oval with trainings being held on the Back Road Oval with a generator providing power for a portable light tower.
In the twenty years that the club has existed, there have been three promotions which included two A Grade Premierships (2015 M6 and 2018 M6), while the Reserves won the Club's first premiership in 2015 (M6R) before winning backteback premierships in 2021 and 2022 (both M6R). The College has been of great assistance to the Club throughout these twenty years with the building of our much-loved Pavilion on Waldeck Oval in 2017 being the perfect example of College and all Old Scholar clubs coming together to build a home for all. There have been over 600 players to play for the club across the grades with Matthew Perry leading the amount of games played and goals kicked respectively (Over 300 games and 800 goals kicked respectively).
The club exists for two reasons;
-
To allow players who just want to have a casual kick with their mates on a Saturday and a sense of community belonging
-
To accommodate those players who want to take their football seriously see the club rise through the divisions to ultimately achieve their club's ambition of becoming the best senior amateur football club north of Grand Junction Road.
With the starting of a Master's team in 2026 and the opportunity to add more senior teams if required, we hope that Trinity Old Scholar or not, you choose Trinity Old Scholars Football Club to become your new football home for life.
